Christmas Festival – Friday 22nd December
Scilly’s 4th Christmas Festival will take place on the evening of Friday 22nd December and will include late night shopping with drinks and nibbles, live music as well as festive demonstrations, street stalls and activities for children. Everyone is invited to enjoy the festive fun and grab those last minute presents!
Walk Scilly 2018 – Wednesday 4th April – Saturday 14th April
By popular demand, Walk Scilly is back and has been extended to 10 days! Between 4th & 14th April 2018 you can take part in a selection of over 25 guided and themed walks across all the inhabited and some uninhabited islands. Get up close with the wildlife, go foraging, visit our flower farms and learn about the islands’ amazing history or take a beach landing to discover one of our many deserted islands.
World Pilot Gig Championships 2018 – Friday 4th May – Monday 7th May
The 2018 World Pilot Gig Championships will take place on the Isles of Scilly from Friday 4th May until Monday 7th May. This is the 29th year that the event has taken place and each year it gets bigger and more crews attend and come from as far afield as Holland and the USA. The majority of participants, however, come from the South West where the wooden pilot gigs are still built locally and race regularly. The “champs”, have become an island spectacle as a carnival atmosphere descends across the archipelago. The veteran’s race kicks off the proceedings on Friday night followed by men’s and women’s races on Saturday and Sunday.
Scilly Swim Challenge 2018 – 12th May
The Scilly Swim Challenge returns again this year on May 12th 2018, with the chance to Swim and Walk the Islands over one day. Tickets go on sale November 2017. There will be 6 swims averaging 2.5 km (total 15km) and 6 walks averaging 1.7 km (total 10km) completed as a group with full safety and logistical support. Experience the amazing swimming and beautiful scenery Scilly has to offer.
Otillo Swimrun World Qualifiers 2018 – 9th & 10th June
Following the remarkable success of the last 2 years, the unique ÖTILLÖ Swimrun World Championship race returns to the Isles of Scilly for the 3rd year running on the 9th and 10th June. 100+ teams from around the world, including Scilly, will be chasing the 8 qualification spots for the ÖTILLÖ Swimrun World Championship. The ÖTILLÖ race will be a true test for the teams of two that will tackle a course close to 45km long with a minimum of eight swims. The open-water swim sections will total around 10km with 35 kilometres of trail running and scrambling in between, across St. Mary’s, Tresco, St. Martin’s and Bryher.
